Apartment in Zakopane with a view of Giewont

This apartment in Zakopane is a contemporary interpretation of an interior inspired by the alpine character of the region. The most important element of the living area is the view — large glazing in the living room opens the interior onto Giewont, making the Tatra panorama part of everyday life for the residents.

The project doesn't compete with the landscape. A light palette, natural wood, stone and soft forms create a calm backdrop for the view outside the window.

Arched glazing and soft forms

One of the apartment's most distinctive features is the arched glazed doors separating the living area from the dining room. Their rounded form repeats throughout the interior, creating a coherent architectural motif.

The glazing preserves a visual connection between the different zones while subtly separating their functions. In the living room, soft, rounded furniture forms are paired with wooden screens and large windows.

Kitchen with Taj Mahal stone

The kitchen was designed as an integral part of the living area. Its centrepiece is an island and cabinetry finished in Taj Mahal stone. The stone's delicate veining gives the light-toned arrangement character, while wood warms up the whole composition.

The cabinetry was designed to also accommodate a TV, a small bar and wine storage. This lets practical functions blend into the calm, minimalist architecture of the interior.

A modern interior design project in alpine style

We applied a similar design language in the bedroom and bathrooms. Wood, stone, light surfaces and rounded cabinetry create a coherent base for the whole apartment.
